Up until now I have never heard of anyone successfully recovering files after a Sony in-camera format. Other cameras, like Canon, give you a choice to do normal or low level format, while Sony would default to low level. Traditionally, all Sony cameras did a low level format by default rather than just deleting the file table. Its possible something changed in the A7M4. That said, I have not had any success in recovering the video files I was hoping to recover. Perhaps the new A7M4 no longer low-level formats. All photo files recovered, so I am not sure why others are experiencing issues with their formatted Sony cards. I accidentally formatted (in camera) before copying over the video files. I had great success with a Sony A7M4 SD card and Windows Recuva - free version (running in Parallels on an Intel Mac).
